Acupuncture

HOW does  it work?

If you're new to acupuncture it probably seems a little out there, but acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years because it works!

The use of certain acupuncture points can be used to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

It may also be used to mechanically release a contracted muscle through use of trigger or motor points, to move stagnant blood, reduce inflammation, and awaken parts of the body that have 'fallen asleep' or the brain may have stopped focusing on.

The body is an electrical field. The electrical current that fires synapses in the brain, contracts muscles, and controls organ function can be manipulated by inserting a metal needle. Change within this field can increase the efficiency of the pathways within the body, helping the body to function at an optimum level.

When a patient has too much stress, anxiety, or has undergone some sort of emotional trauma, they can become trapped in a "fight or flight" state. In order to help a patient ease back into a "rest & digest" way of being we engage the parasympathetic nervous system.
